Pork Chops – The Healthy Side of the Pig
Most people on diet programs think “pork” equals “fat” and is synonymous with weight gain. But the opposite is true. We’re not talking bacon or pulled pork here.
Interestingly enough, some studies have shown that pork chops can actually be more healthy than chicken or fish.
Pork chops are a good source of protein and contain several vitamins and minerals. They are also relatively low in fat, making them a healthier option than some other types of meat.
Some potential health benefits associated with eating pork chops include:
- improved blood sugar control
- reduced inflammation
- better joint health
- increased muscle mass
- improved heart health
Cracked Pepper and Lemon Air Fried Pork Chops
This recipe is so simple. It’s just a few simple ingredients:
The Rub:
You’ll need Kinders Cracked Pepper and Lemon Seasoning. There are a lot of lemon peppers out there but this one is our favorite. It’s got a nice zesty flavor without being too spicy.
You’ll also need garlic powder, onion powder, and salt and pepper to taste. Just mix these seasonings in a small bowl and set asside.
The Oil:
We use olive oil but you can use any cooking oil you choose. If you want an oil that won’t smoke as quick, use avocado oil. Both are healthy fats and we’re using a small amount.
The Pork Chop:
We’ve talked about our belief in Butcherbox before and all the reasons we like them. But if you’re going to make tasty meals you need quality protein. Butcherbox proteins are free-range, grass-fed and pasture raised. In our opinion, it’s the best way to go.
Yes, they come frozen but they are farm frozen for freshness. Plus we know the truth… No one is buying their meat for the month and leaving it all in the fridge. We all have space in our freezer for a few key items.
We order the boneless chops from Butcherbox at least every other month. They are always thick cuts and taste awesome!
Important note: Don’t overcook your pork chops. We pull ours at 140-145 and let them sit for 3 minutes before serving. Anything else is too dry.
The Air Fryer:
We love all the Ninja Foodi line items and the 6-in-1 grill/air fryer never dissapoints us. We use it when we are stictly air frying. It’s big enough but not too big. Plus it’s ability to grill, bake, and all the rest makes it so nice.

Air Fried Cracked Pepper and Lemon Pork Chop Directions
The directions are really simple. Prep your air fryer and let it pre-heat. The Foodi air crisp default is 390 degrees.
While the Foodi is pre-heating, remove your pork chops from their Butcherbox wrapper and pat them dry.
Rub with the oil on each side. Then sprinkle with your pepper/garlic/onion seasoning. Top with salt and pepper to taste.

When the fryer is ready, add your pork chops. Cook for about 12 minutes flipping once during the fry. Cook to your desired doneness. Allow to rest. Serve with a fresh side.
Final Notes:
Pork Chops tend to dry out quickly so it’s important not to overcook them. We like ours at 140-145 degrees. If you’re using a different cooking method, just cook to your desired doneness.
Our Foodi can hold four good sized pork chops. Most air fryers are going to be limited to two chops. The cooking time should be the same regardless but again, cook to your desired doneness.
As always, please let us know if you have any questions!
Happy Cooking!
